You’ve got Brigatinib in doses of 30, 90, and 180 mg, with each blister pack carrying 4 pills. It comes in bottles with 30 tabs inside. Brigatinib works by stopping something called the ALK receptor tyrosine kinase in its tracks.
It’s key for keeping ALK lung cancers like our patient’s from spreading. They identify a type of thing called ALK rearrangement using FISH, which is like using a microscope to study the chromosomes, and sometimes with IHC, which looks more closely at the cellular proteins. All our ALK-positive NSCLC patients should definitely get a test and the right chemo treatment first.
Also, keep in mind, the most common things people might feel, like mouth sores or feeling queasy with maybe some diarrhea and throwing up, or just not wanting to eat much. We need our healthcare folks to keep a close eye on for both the common and any uncommon reactions, and they really keep this ongoing once started on the drug.
