The drug comes in three sizes of capsules: 2.3 mg, 3 mg, and 4 mg. You’re supposed to take the 4 mg capsules once a week, on days 1, 8, and 15 of every 28-day cycle. Each dose, which is a week’s worth, comes in a packet that has 3 capsules.
IXAZOMIB works by stopping something called the 26S proteasome, which is super important for getting rid of bad proteins in cells, including those that help cancer cells grow. By doing this, it causes a build-up of cancer cell proteins and stops the cells from dividing, which ends up killing them.
