Asciminib is a cancer drug. It’s called a BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitor. It’s mostly used for CML, especially when other treatments haven’t worked.
The drug works by stopping something called the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase. This enzyme helps cancer cells grow. Asciminib focuses on a part of the ABL protein, called the myristoyl pocket.
This part is really important for the enzyme. You can get this drug in two doses—20 mg and 40 mg in pill form. Doctors usually suggest taking 80 mg of the drug once a day, or you can take 40 mg twice a day.
Each bottle of the drug has 60 tablets, and they’re all covered with a special coating.
